What is Illustrative Writing?

What is Illustrative Writing?Illustrative writing is a broad category of writing and can encompass all styles. When someone refers to 'illustrative' they are usually referring to writing that will help tell the story in a visually stunning manner. These types of writing might also include photography, creating visuals with words, or even using images and words as an illustration to further the story. Whatever type of illustration is being used, it must be descriptive and memorable, as well as aesthetically pleasing to the reader?Illustrative writing helps us to understand something by providing insight and explanation in an entertaining and memorable way. It's as important to the meaning of the work as the text itself. Unfortunately, most creative writing tends to be designed for a certain style and audience. Illustrative writing is different. This type of writing can be used for everything from children's books to trade journals and should be able to effectively convey information w ithout boring the reader.Illustrative writing is usually a form of human expression, where art and words intertwine to create a unique expression that is considered a collage. Some forms of illustrative writing include comic strips, photo essays, instructional books, or even poetry. Illustration is different because it can be spontaneous, there is no script, and it can be manipulated. In other words, there is no rule about how much space you should be allowed to use for a particular image. The main goal of illustrative writing is to provide information and artistic expression at the same time. For example, if an illustration is depicting a plant or a flower it doesn't have to be accurate. If a character in the book is shown to be standing on a chair that has been pushed over it wouldn't be considered a bad example. However, if it was depicted that the character actually had a limp because the chair was pushed over then the work would be considered in poor taste. Therefore, the illust ration must be used to inform, or portray something that is funny or fun.Illustrative writing is used to enhance stories, but can also be used in non-fiction works. If you were to look through an encyclopedia, you would see numerous examples of illustration. For example, you could see illustrations of people. You could also see a caricature of a person, or an illustration of a person when they are in a state of pain. If you were to look at a photograph of a person in pain, you could see the individual as an illustration. By changing the lighting you could see the difference between a photograph and a drawing. In other words, the illustration is used to show, and not necessarily tell.Illustrations aren't only used in books. They can be used in the classroom. In this case, students can use them to explain things that may be difficult to understand in class. For example, if you had someone who struggled to read, you could use an illustration to help explain to them why it is hard for th em to read, and what they could do to fix it.Illustration is such a broad topic that there is a plethora of sources. If you were to look online you would find sites devoted to this topic, like on illustration. The great thing about writing is that it is completely adaptable to how illustrative writing is used, so if your project requires illustration, look into it and see if it fits your style and the project at hand.
